Lee Evans sells out within 2 hours!
02/04/2008

Tickets for Lee Evans went on sale on Saturday 29th March at 10am as promised. When we arrived at 9.30am a queue of almost a hundred had already formed, which doubled as we approached 10am.

The first person through the doors at 10.00am, had been queuing from 6.30am!

We had 3 people serving in person and 1 on the phones and it was madness until we eventually sold out at 11.45am.

It was a lottery on the phones as we fully appreciate and we didn't have any time to return messages left on the answerphone or emails. When all phones are ringing there is just no time to listen for messages or read emails and return calls.

It was as fair as possible, although we appreciate that many of you are now left disappointed. Sadly, we only have 548 seats and they were allocated extremely fairly.

Anyway, we still have many shows coming up, and for those comedy fans, Rob Brydon seats are now on sale!

Ken Dodd Sells Out in Just 4 Hours
20/09/2007

well, we went on sale for Ken Dodd on Tuesday 18th September at 10am as promised and making it fair for everybody and taking away any advantage that some post code regions have in receiving the brochure.

60 People had already formed a queue when we arrived at 9.30am and we waited until exactly 10am before we opened the Box Office. We had 2 people serving in person and 2 on the phones and it was madness until we eventually sold out at 2pm. There was a lull in calls at around 1pm but at that stage we only had about 60 seats left which went fairly efficiently taken during the last hour.

It was a lottery on the phones as we fully appreciate and we didn't have any time to return messages left on the answerphone or emails. The answerphone message said to 'please keep trying until you get through to somebody' so we did warn in advance. When all phones are ringing there is just no time to listen for messages or read emails and return calls.

It was as fair as possible, although we appreciate that many of you are now left disappointed. Sadly, we only have 548 seats and they were allocated extremely fairly.

Anyway, we still have many shows between now and the New Year to entertainment all tastes so we look forward to seeing you soon.

Deadringer From Hell Update - 22nd September
10/09/2007

MEAT LOAF ROCK OPERA SETS SIGHTS ON THE WEST END

By Helen Dawes

The DEAD RINGER FROM HELL, which is appearing at Theatr Hafren on Saturday 22nd September is setting it’s sights on the West End, according to the show’s executive producer, Robert Smith, who has himself invested in a number of touring and West End shows.

“Sure it’s a big plan”, says Smith, “. . . but I remember seeing Jerry Springer The Opera in 2001 at the Battersea arts centre when it had a different title and only one character, and like that show The Dead Ringer From Hell is very special and fits right in with what is hot on the West End at the moment.”

Smith came on board as the show’s executive producer after being persuaded by a friend to attend a performance of The Dead Ringer From Hell at the Plymouth Pavilions. “It was only their second show and there they were in this big venue playing their guts out to a small crowd. I loved the show and saw its potential right from the start. . . I was taken by the charisma of the performers and the clever way the show is put together. . . I have seen it more than twenty times and it still makes me laugh.”

Smith says that he is in tentative talks with the appropriate people to take the show to its next level. “Of course, there is some real work to be done on the show,” Smith explains, “and the first thing is to alter the name, we have a new working title but we are saving that for later. Right now our mission is to get the show known.”

When asked what makes The Dead Ringer From Hell show so special Smith is quick to say “The show is a gem, it’s a real gem. This is a finely crafted Rock Opera that is a tribute to Meatloaf and his music just as Mama Mia is a tribute to the music of ABBA. . . However, the real strength of the show is the great story line written by Jerry Hollis. It’s brilliant because along with the music the story captures the Rock and Roll and Drive-in movie essence of Meat Loaf and Jim Steinman in their early days and it’s wickedly funny. . .”

As for the cast of the Dead Ringer From Hell Show, American singer, Jerry Hollis who plays the Ringer says, “For us it’s all about performing. . . The show is a lot of fun and people who see it leave happy, which is what it’s all about.” However, Smith is not so demure, “People better come to see The Dead Ringer From Hell now so they can say they saw it in the beginning. . . My aim is to make this show a West End or Vegas hit and as far as I am concerned there is no reason, AT ALL, why it cannot happen.” You can read more about the Dead Ringer From Hell at www.thedeadringerfromhell.com

The Dead Ringer From Hell appears at Theatr Hafren on Saturday 22nd September. Tickets are £13 for more information call the Box office on (01686) 62007
